Thrive & Survive: What do you need?

Disclaimer: This list is in no specific order, so please do not assume one category is more important than the other unless stated otherwise, thank you and happy reading!

Gear

When we use the term gear, we want you to think of it as an items that each serve multiple functions. We don’t want to have one item per need, we need each item to serve multiple functions. The goal is to complete all our tasks with as few items as possible. For instance, we don’t need a stove to cook the same way we don’t need a lighter to create fire. This concept can also transition to our bugout bags. The lighter our bugout bags are, the more efficiently we can travel. If you’re a novice to survival and preparedness you’re likely going to need extra items compared to someone more experienced in the field. This is why it’s best to train with the items we have. It’s better to be a master of one than a master of none!

Training

Regardless of how much gear or ‘stuff’ we have, it’s useless if we don’t train! Consistently training is what will keep us humble and allow us to hone our skills. When we train, our goal is to become better than we were. We want to better our skillsets so they’re hardened for when we need them. Training doesn’t have to be torturous or miserable, make it fun! Take the family or some friends out on a weekend camping trip using less items than you normally would, but bring them along just in case things go sideways. Having certain items can save a life and safety is of utmost importance especially in the wilderness! Instead of lighting that campfire with a lighter or match, gather some dry tinder and use your ferro rod! If you’re experienced with a ferro rod, try a bow drill! Remember that training can and should be enjoyable. Don’t turn training into something you dislike or resent. The best part about training is we can train how we find most enjoyable. So find your niche and get training, your skills are waiting on you!

People

Understanding we need people is a hard pill to swallow for some. In the preparedness community there are many of us who would rather take a chance and ride SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, chaos, etc. out alone. There’s one major issue with that- we all sleep, eat, take breaks, bathe, and do other activities that are necessary to our physical and mental wellbeing. Having the ability to change out shifts with people you trust so you’re able to do those activities is vital to our survival. Our goal in preparedness is to perpetuate normalcy as much as possible for ourselves and the people we love. The more people we have, the easier those things become, the less strain each person has on them. No you can’t gather up random people and expect things to be sunshine and daisies, this is why it’s best to build those relations now while we have time. Building a MAG (Mutual Assistance Group) can be achieved via social media groups, community organized events, festivals, and more! Start building your MAG, forge those bonds and relationships today!

Faith

At Sanctified Survival, we believe faith is the most important aspect of survival. Although life in this world is temporary, life afterwards is permanent. Our faith is at the core of why we do what we do. Reading and studying scripture is one of the more effective activities we can do to develop our relationship with our Creator. Developing and training skills with our Father in our hearts is what we should strive for. Completing His will for us and doing His works. Sanctifying not only ourselves from sin but also sanctifying our brethren. The term ‘Sanctified’ is a biblical term which means to spiritually set apart. Sanctified Survival translates to spiritually setting oneself apart and surviving. In Romans 6:23 Paul tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”. So by choosing sin, by choosing Babylon, we are choosing death. Whereas choosing our Creator and following His commands, we are choosing everlasting life. This is why we are Sanctified Survival, to follow His commands and sanctify ourselves so we may live in everlasting life through Him.
